Christopher Magyar
Immediate Past Governor
Chairman, Nominating Committee
Dear Fellow Officer:
It is my privilege to call for your nominations for officers to serve District 59 for the year July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009. Specifically, I am seeking nominations for:
- District Governor
- Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training
- Lieutenant Governor of Marketing
- Public Relations Officer
- Division Governors for the Divisions A to I
For your convenience, the following documents have been posted here to assist you in the process:
Although the Nominations Committee will review candidates" qualifications, it would help greatly if you refer to the qualifications list before making your nomination. Likewise, please use the Officer Nomination Form to submit your nomination to me. Feel free to send the form to me by whatever medium is convenient to you.
Any Toastmaster of District 59 in good standing may nominate another Toastmaster of District 59 for an officer position. You may also nominate yourself.
Please note that all positions are open for nominations. There is no fixed line of succession nor is there an automatic, guaranteed progression from one office to another.
Nominations close on Wednesday, April 23; election of officers for the 2008 – 2009 year will take place at the District Council meeting on Saturday, May 17th in Prague.
The positions of District Secretary and District Treasurer are appointed by the incoming District Governor.
Area Governors: Although area governors are appointed by the incoming District Governor, not elected, you are ultimately responsible for finding your successor. You may serve a second term, if you desire, but you must notify me of your successor by April 23 as well. Many of you have already done so and I thank you for the fine work. Please stress to your successor the importance of attending the District 59 conference in Prague because official training of District officers will take place on Sunday, May 18 immediately after the end of the conference.
In closing, I urge you to consider who will be best qualified to lead District 59 to another successful year. This applies to all positions. Besides experience, people skills are needed. Equally important is an unwavering focus on the essentials of District success – the four critical success factors. Please also consider the willingness of candidates to serve. As we all know, being a District officer requires time, work and dedication. In fact, some positions could easily be a full-time job. Is your potential candidate willing to bring the time, dedication, personal investment and energy to the task at hand? For twelve months?
I look forward to hearing from you shortly.
Sincerely,
Christopher Magyar
